San Giorgio Maggiore Island: Borges Labyrinth

Get lost in a story-inspired Venice labyrinth

Why you should buy your ticket on Family Days.

Highlights

The labyrinthine map of the Serenissima becomes even more complicated with the Borges Labyrinth in Venice. Inspired by the short story "The Garden of Forking Paths" by Argentine author Jorge Luis Borge, this kilometer-long labyrinth of 3,200 boxwood plants offers a fascinating escape from the city streets.

During this tour you will have the opportunity to explore the labyrinth with an audio guide that includes musical accompaniment by the composer Antonio Fresa, performed by the Orchestra del Teatro La Fenice.

After finding your way out of the maze, enter the New Manica Lunga, a vast library that was once a dormitory for Benedictine monks. With 1,400 meters of shelving and some 100,000 volumes that fill the entire height of the walls, from the floor to the arched ceiling, it is a dream place for any literature lover.
