Highlights

The Leonardo da Vinci National Museum of Science and Technology in Milan is housed in a 16th-century monastery and boasts a collection of over 16,000 objects, including models based on Da Vinci's engineering sketches. It's a fascinating place to delve into the mind of the genius Da Vinci and learn about cutting-edge technology.

Leonardo da Vinci was a true Renaissance man (and not just because he was alive during the Italian Renaissance).
His interests ranged from the study of nature and anatomy to military and hydraulic engineering. In addition to being a renowned painter, he is often credited with inventing the parachute, the helicopter, and the tank. His observations and ideas are visible in the thousands of drawings he made throughout his life and career as a painter and engineer.

The Leonardo Da Vinci Museum of Science and Technology in Milan is a fitting tribute: it is enormous and filled with experiments on topics ranging from energy to communication. Its scope seems to reflect the restless mind of the great man.

Discover seven different departments:
Each of the seven areas studies and researches the sectors of its own collection, as well as creating exhibitions and educational activities.

Discover engineering treasures, including steam trains, the first flying machines and a whole fleet of iconic ships, such as the brig Ebe and the ocean liner Conte Biancamano.

There’s also a space area that boasts a real piece of moon rock and the Vega space launcher. Be sure to check out the Fragility and Beauty exhibit to discover some of Earth’s most remote and beautiful areas through breathtaking satellite imagery.

Children, in particular, love the engaging interactivity, but in reality the whole family will find time flies, just as Da Vinci hoped his "ornithopter" would.

Arrive curious and leave engaged and informed (and even more curious).

The museum is so engaging that you could easily spend an entire day there. There is no cafeteria, but if you bring a lunch and/or snacks you can skip the vending machine lunch and watch your child's eyes widen with wonder all day.
